How It Works

First reflections are sound waves that bounce once off a surface before reaching your ears. They arrive 1-20ms after the direct sound and cause comb filtering, smearing stereo imaging. The mirror method: imagine a mirror on each wall — where you can see the speaker's reflection is the first reflection point. Place absorptive panels (minimum 2" thick, 2'×4') centered on these points. Treat side walls first (biggest impact), then ceiling, then rear wall. Floor reflections are handled by a desk or console.
